Brighter Sound

Brighter Sound is a creative music charity, based in Manchester and working across the North and nationally. They believe music-making and creativity should be a central pillar in the lives of all children and young people, that emerging musicians should be supported to develop their artistic confidence and originality, and that the music landscape should be equal and diverse.

Both Sides Now is a large-scale initiative taking place across the North of England to support emerging female artists and up-and-coming industry professionals to transform the future of the music industry.

We want to create a growing network, deliver sustainable activity, and affect permanent change around the perception, opportunities and profiling of women in music, from the classroom, to the boardroom, to the stage.

Both Sides Now is supported by through Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence fund.

Leaf Label

Founded by Tony Morley in 1995, The Leaf Label’s impressive international
catalogue is simultaneously pioneering and timeless, with enough warmth, melody,
playfulness and passion to distinguish Leaf from its contemporaries.

From the first release (a Boymerang 12”), The Leaf Label has worked with artists
from around the world, including Caribou (Canada), Efterklang (Denmark), Colleen
(France), Murcof (Mexico), AU, volcano! and A Hawk And A Hacksaw (USA),
Wildbirds & Peacedrums and Roll The Dice (Sweden) and Polar Bear, Melt
Yourself Down and The Comet Is Coming (UK) and Susumu Yokota and Asa-
Chang & Junray (both from Japan).

Among the current roster there is little to suggest a common musical thread, and yet
the artists are bound together with an understanding of aesthetics and a strong mark
of individuality and timelessness. Leaf continues to evade classification and build on
its enviable reputation.
