The Unconference is a day of panels, workshops, presentations and networking for those working in, or aspiring to work in the music industry, as part of Live At Leeds and Leeds International Festival. If you are involved in music at any level and hope to gain a better understanding of the music industries – as an artist, producer, manager, promoter, enthusiast or otherwise, you can come to our event to find out more from leading experts and professionals.
The event takes place across Leeds College of Music, The Wardrobe & Ipsum Vinoteca in the city centre, is supported by Leeds Beckett University and PRS For Music Foundation and is free to attend.
This years’ Unconference will feature artist & industry keynote speakers, panel discussions on getting started in a music career and how streaming is impacting the industry. Our regular “Meet The Experts” sessions will return, where you can book a one-to-one meeting with music industry experts & professionals, as well as a new stream of “Industry Pitches” where industry organisations will present about what they do and how you can get involved with them.
Confirmed to appear are representatives from PRS, Beggars Group (XL / 4AD), Utah Saints, AIM, Temples (band) and Arts Council England with many more to be announced before the event. Previous years have featured speakers such as Tom Robinson (BBC 6 Music), Pulled Apart By Horses, Scott Cohen (The Orchard), Laura Snapes (Pitchfork) and Simon Rix (Kaiser Chiefs).
The Unconference will run from 10am until 6pm and is free to attend, but you need to register in advance. A full programme of events will be published prior to the event, with details of all our speakers and events!
